Planets, The

Planets, The
In 1916, Gustav Host, a composer of music and self-admitted mystic, wrote a brilliant orchestral suit entitled "The Planets." This work has been enjoyed by millions in concert halls, under the stars in outdoor amphitheaters, and at home on phonograph records, audio tapes and compact discs. Sixty years after "The Planets" was written, internationally renowned keyboard artist and composer. Isao Tomita created a highly popular electronic version of the Holst suite. It is "The Tomita Planets" that award-winning Director Don Barrett has chosen for the soundtrack of his musical video grand tour of the Solar System. Barrett makes use of actual outer space photography returned to Earth by the Marnier, Viking, Voyager, Pioneer, Magellan and Galileo spacecrafts. That footage, combined with supercomputer animation and special digital video effects created expressly for "The Planets," is choreographed to the Holsts/ Tomita music. Scientific accuracy throughout the planetary segments co-exists with artistic license within transitional material (including portions labeled "Interlude") to create a magnificent marriage of sight and sound, art and science. Writer/ Director Don Barett is one of the worlds most prolific creators of original videos. His works have received both critical acclaim and public praise, and have been twice nominated for Best Special Interest Video for the Year by the American Film Institute. Among his 24 releases are: "The Voyager Odyssey (1977-1989), "The Wonderful Planet," "The Floating World Destination: Universe," "The NFL Football Trivia Game" and "The Story Of The Space Shuttle.

Go Tigers!
Go Tigers!
Welcome to Massillon, Ohio, where high school football is nothing short of religion. For the 33,000 people who live there, football is life--a veritable "cradle to the grave" experience that begins in the maternity ward where coaches make visits to scout future linebackers, and ends in a customized football casket emblazoned with the Tigers mascot. A surprise hit in theaters across the country, "Go Tigers!" chronicles the 1999 high school football season of the Massillon Tigers. On the heels of a losing year, the Tigers risk losing football in Massillon altogether, as an upcoming vote on a new tax levy is the only thing that will prevent massive budget cuts and the limitation of the football program. With the vote clearly riding on the team's success, it is up to the three co-captains--quarterback Dave Irwin, linebacker Danny Studer and defensive end Ellery Moore--to ensure that an entire town's hopes and reams come true. Just three days before the crucial vote is to take place, the Tigers face the biggest game of their lives against archrival McKinley. In the spirit of such hit films as "Remember The Titans" and "Hoop Dreams," accomplished filmmaker and Massillon native Ken Carlson brings us the real story behind America's hysterical obsession with sports, and for the first time lets us experience that same rush of adrenaline along with a real life team. With an SRO crowd of screaming fans and a town's future at stake, "Go Tigers!" is an energetic and absorbing thrill ride not to be missed.
